Have you ever heard the proverb about how you grow a tree for only ten years, but you have to grow men over a hundred?

.
.
.

I guess not then. In English it means that human progress is tied with education and that you have to nurture those skills and talents over time for the betterment of everyone. Which is why I've brought myself here.

There is a time to say goodbye to the military and lead a quieter life, like others I know. Because you can't stay in that kind of environment forever. I loved studying when I was in university and returning the favour is probably the best to do. Plus there will be new people to meet and new technologies to develop. It's a really conducive atmosphere to learning, collaboration - oh.

Really, there's nothing for me to lose. I like having the free time too. Makes it easier to catch up on reading.

Such a life is not easily left behind. Yet I wonder how you came to that employment initially. Such a life is not for the world, but for the concerns of mortal, faulty rulers.

I... I make a communications and radar system that was considered advanced for its time. Due to my familiarity with the technology, I was recruited as a support member. I was never really a proper soldier.

I don't have a lot of knowledge on proverbs but there's a lot of merit in what you said.

In any case, welcome. You appear to be new. My name is Peach.

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
And yet you served those interests.

[identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, someone else who was on the military? You don't mind me askin', what did ya do?

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it is a lesser evil to support those eliminating those capable of greater ones.

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
What did you work for?

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I love reading! I study proverbs because I think they make some sense of the world... you know, knowledge is like a garden that needs to be cultivated for it to bear any fruit.

My name is Mei Ling. I am new, but hopefully not for too long.

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Various places. None of any particular interest to those not really involved.

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind at all! I was mainly support, not really out on the battlefield. I'm not really made to be a soldier so I just helped out those who were on the front lines.

Oh, pardon me. My name is Mei Ling. How silly, I forgot to introduce myself.

[identity profile] pink-shroom.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
From how you speak of it, I'm willing to believe that. I think I can respect anyone who takes such care in learning.

A pleasure, Mei Ling. Are you a student?

[identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Heheheh c'mon, support is support no matter what it is. I don't understand everythin' about the military, I'm just a boxer from the city; but I totally believe soldiers need all kinds of help from all kinds of places or they ain't gettin' nothin' done.

I'm Mac! Nice to meetcha, Mei Ling!

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a teacher, actually. Newly recruited. I think when I was university, that was when I really felt like I was at my creative heights, haha. So I'm giving back and teaching Data Analysis here. It should be fun.

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, you're right on the money there Mac. They're capable of getting stuff done on their own but they're only human like the rest of us. Hence the reason we're needed too.

So are you studying here?

[identity profile] surpass.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh.

I feel you are absolutely correct.

Returning the favor... so you are a teacher?

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
That was really good! Maybe you could teach me haikus and I can teach you proverbs in exchange.

Oh, I didn't introduce myself... I'm Mei Ling. I'm a new teacher here.

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed I am. My name is Mei Ling, I will be teaching data analysis.

And you are?

[identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! I'm gonna be a junior startin' next year! You're just in time for the prom!

[identity profile] pink-shroom.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Data Analysis...so with computers. I see, I will be sure to attend. I do hope you enjoy teaching. There are many who quite know their way around the computer, I'm sure they'd appreciate it too.

[identity profile] surpass.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Data? What sort of data is this?

N. N Harmonia, a trainer from Unova. [If he could be called that.] It's... a pleasure.

[MAYBE. HE'S NOT SURE YET.]

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Not just computers and such... we look at data collected on the battle field and optimise it, manipulate it and generally do fun things.

... Well, I find it fun anyway!

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Prom? What prom?

I think I may have missed it when I was in school, so I'm not quite sure what it is.

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Events? I've had my fair share of strange events so events of that nature aren't too alien to me. I think, anyway. What kind of events are they?

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Enharmonia... hm. Interesting.

Oh, as for the data - in battle we collect lots of types of data regarding the battle such as the physical state of the combatants, tactics and attacks used, data about the physical environment et cetera. I'll be teaching how to look at it, optimise it and generally play around with it. Some call it 'nerdy' but I'd like to think it was 'curiosity with numbers.'

[identity profile] 140-96.livejournal.com 2011-05-22 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
...

Well, that's interesting. To say the least, that is. I suppose as the psychologist of the school, Professor, that you end up picking up the pieces of people's fragmented psyches after these events?
